What principles define how you live?
I thought I lived the ‘good Christian life’. “Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 1Peter 3:10-11
However, as I really delved into weight management through the Weigh Down principles. I have discovered it’s more than just that. We can be honest, and not steal, help those who need help—good in our own eyes. I thought greed was for fortune and fame. But greed is wanting more than what we deserve. Eating more than what I need or what my body desires is greed. I hadn’t realized how much this greed had permeated my life and not just in my eating.
‘But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.’ 2Peter 2:1-4 ESV
So I’m on high alert for greed in my life. I don’t want to think I’m a Christian, I want to be one.
