I was out of work for an extended period of time on workmen’s comp. Instead of sitting in my house all day, I went to antique shops. I began collecting all sorts of things. From there, wherever I traveled to I would be in search of the items I was collecting. While in Paris with my daughter, I found a ton of floating pens. The naughty ones, which are very hard to find.

I think we collect things to fill in the areas we feel are lacking. If you find yourself grabbing something that isn’t part of your nature to possess, stop and ask yourself why. And if you don’t have an answer, wait 24-48 hours. If it’s meant to be yours, it will be there or it will appear somewhere else.

Yesterday, I saw this statement,

‘Don’t forget that the longing for simplicity is a spiritual longing. Asking physical things to meet spiritual needs doesn’t work.’ I think it fits perfectly with my collecting philosophy.
