Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.
I knew I would write a sequel to my current children’s book; however, I wished it to be a chapter book. I had already, in my opinion, participated in the odious process of illustration. Not a chance was I going to take that bullet again.
As I was progressing through the new story, the sequel, I hit a wall, hard. I decided I would give the writing a rest for I was in the mist of planning for an extended European trip. Towards the last few days of the trip, I realized that all of the shenanigans that had occurred over the last 15 days in Europe would be quite funny, as well, the pictures too. Inspired and awake in the wee hours of the morning I began writing, after 16 nights of not sleeping in my own bed. I figured a way to incorporate this new work as part of my sequel. I got home and I, still was writing. I decided to take a risk and write another book with illustrations. My publisher accepted the manuscript. I am happy to say, I am longer being held hostage by a fear of working with 12 year olds who were hired for their artistic abilities, not their reading skills.
😅 No, seriously, this risk is an incredible adventure. Be on the look out for my next book—a graphic novel.
